It was the dullest of afternoons in the Painted Desert - overcast and lifeless, and people were leaving early in droves. But... there was a clear opening in the west and no clouds for hundreds of miles - a sure sign of a spectacular sunset. I tired to talk a few people into sticking around past sunset, and they passed. Oh well...
